Big Lights Far Away, Vancouver and Toronto!!

After what has turned out to be an amazing year of working and teaching in Mumbai, Dubai, Australia and Capetown, South Africa, I'm happy to head home to Canada this summer to hold two Big Lights Far Away workshops in Vancouver (Aug 11/12) and Toronto (Aug 4/5).

Though the BLFA workshops are distinctly centered around lighting style and learning how to use powerful light sources I tend to also speak about invaluable things like: staying creative, working with ad agencies, pitching your work and directing models. I've shot a ton and for major international clients since first starting the series and as I grow photographically so does the workshop.

If you're an advanced amateur photographer reading to make the leap to professional or if you are a pro looking to brush up on your lighting skill set, then this course is for you!

Our intention is to simulate a real life environment for students. I take directly from shoots I've handled personally and assume the role of Art Director or client to give participants the feel of a real life editorial or advertising shoot. We also keep class sizes small so there's lots of one on one per student.

check us out this summer, we'd love to have you!

below are some student photos of past workshops:

I was a student in Martin's class in Dubai this past winter and had a blast. It was a small class and Martin had a lot of time work with us all. Went through his own work, which is awesome, agencies, art directors , models and then making the shots. So much more to the class beyond the lights and cameras.

Here is another one while in our class that I liked.
